The Survival Guide
What this is
Section titled “What this is”Every trait in Understanding ADHD comes with a cost, but most also come with a workaround. The Survival Guide collects those workarounds in one place — organized by the kind of problem they solve, not by diagnosis.
The guiding principle throughout: don’t try harder, build a better system. If a strategy depends on remembering, willpower, or “just focusing,” it will fail. The ones that stick are the ones that change your environment so the brain doesn’t have to hold the load.
Sections
Section titled “Sections”The strategy pages are grouped by the kind of problem they solve:
- When You Can’t Get Started — breaking the freeze when your body won’t move
- If You Can’t See It, It Doesn’t Exist — externalizing memory so things stop disappearing
- Time & Transitions — making time visible and beating “waiting mode”
- Sensory & Focus — body doubling, managing overload, channeling movement
- Emotional Survival — riding out RSD spikes and emotional floods
